MEET THE FOUNDER

Our Story.

At Canatelz, we bring you bold, American-inspired soul food with a unique twist. Our story began in 2016 when our founder, Atele Ndamba, started Canatelz while working as a sous chef in luxury fine dining. What began as a small business offering canapés and catering for weddings quickly grew into something more.

 

In 2021, Atele reimagined Canatelz as a street food business, combining his fine dining expertise with the bold, comforting flavours of American-inspired soul food. During the pandemic, Canatelz Soul Food was born, bringing a fresh, creative take on traditional street food to life.

 

Atele’s journey became a true partnership when he teamed up with his fiancée, Christelle, who brought her experience as a luxury sales assistant into the business. Together, they transitioned from their luxury backgrounds to building Canatelz into a thriving street food brand, merging their skills and passion to create something truly special.

Today, Canatelz serves at festivals and events, sharing vibrant, flavourful soul food with a twist. From our beginnings in fine dining to our love for street food, we’re proud to bring bold flavours and unforgettable dishes to every customer we serve.
